I don't know if any of you were here when I started The Study: Rider Waite Deck but I am about to start something similar hoping to have it better organized. We took the Tarot in the Rider Waite apart, studying each card putting our interpretations etc etc etc... But that was a bit messy for those new to the forum or new to the topic wanting to come back to the beginning. So here I am going to start a topic for each tarot card and we can study each card with each other and go to the card that calls to us and put our two cents in if we please. I know I started with the Rider Waite deck and use it to this very day but I do use other decks and I think this is where this will take a different spin from my previous topic.
Since the topics will be organized according to each card I'd like for us to discuss any Fool card we use. I will say though if you are going to comment on a different Fool card that is already presented please add a pic to your post of the card you speak of. So if I am commenting on the Fool in the Rider Waite, I will post a Pic of the Fool in the Rider Waite deck and those who post after me on the Rider Waite can either post a pic of the Rider Waite if they choose or just simply mention that it is in this deck they are commenting on. If someone down the line wants to use the Fool from a different Tarot Deck then please post That Card with your findings and just continue with the flow.
Personally I believe that all interpretations of the Tarot in many decks add to the whole of the Fool. So I take all my perceptions of every deck I've worked with and add it to my interpretation of the Fool when working with any card. Granted each deck has a certain energy that will definitely come through but knowing what the Fool can represent on many levels helps greatly! So... With that being said let us begin shall we? The First card I'll be adding up is The Fool but I will add more when I get the chance so take a seat and lets TAROT!
Some things you may consider when writing your perceptions:
Who is The Fool? How does the Fool card Make Me Feel? What Colors stand out to me? List the Colors in order from most vibrant to the ones that least stand out. What do these colors mean? What figures in this card stand out to me? What are the figures doing? How is the body language in the fool? What words come to mind when looking at this card? Who do I think of when I see this card?

This was taken from my Tarot Journal; a bit of study and questions i've done with this card. Just scratching the Surface.
“Animus” is what comes to me when I look at this card. Spirit has given me this word for a reason. Check up on it later.
I notice the body language of the Fool in this card. He seems to be walking on Air sotospeak. He is in his own world and his movements are so fluid as if he is being guided and has no question as to the guidance he is receiving he follows it as inherently he knows that this is where he is to be.
He almost reminds me of Jack Sparrow! AHHH!
Now the next thing I notice is the position of his legs/feet. In one aspect they look like they are about to take off into the next step and go over the cliff that he is on but at another point it looks as if he is sort of “halting” his position thus telling me that while he is very guided by the divine and in his own world he has formed some sort of judgments that prevents him from fully engulfing himself into his calling. Also possibly the need to slow down a bit and be very sure of what one is doing so they don't act a 'Fool.'
Look at the Flower he holds in his hand. It is erect upright and right underneath the sun that shines down. It is a White Rose.
Look at the stick with his bag attached to it. It is also touching the sun rays and he holds it over as if it is nothing too serious but a prop. Emphasize prop as spirit is telling me this is something to really pay attention to. That these things all of these physical materialistic things are props of the soul.
He is on a cliff that looks very sturdy. The Cliff sort of curves up to a point as if saying you are meant to be here but not to fall over so halt and be aware. Look at the surroundings, look at what is here but you are grounded.
The Dog in the picture is also mimicking the Fool. Not sure if he is really warning him or encouraging him. If you look at the dogs expression its as if he is looking in the same direction as the Fool but not necessarily at the fool so what exactly are they staring off at? Where does their gaze lock?
Look at the Clothes on the Fool. The smock is very airy and fluid, you see how it sort of billows.
This card is covered in fairly bright colors. You have a lot of Yellow and fire colors towards the top of the card and towards the bottom you have your earthly colors of green and browns as well as your cool tones of blue and white.
This card makes me feel very anxious, like I am waiting for something to happen. I also feel a much guided energy around it as well as almost so engulfed in myself that I just don’t care about my surroundings. I know who I am, I know what I think I am and what I want and I am going for it.
There are a few things that this card speaks to me of. One is that this individual just left a sort of tea party such as the ones in Alice in Wonderland with the Mad Hatter! He has taken the advice that was given and is allowing it to sink in and pondering what’s to come and all of the potentially amazing things to happen and so with all of this on mind he is not looking or caring as to where he is going as he is in a sort of trance within himself. He walks towards the edge of the cliff with no care in his mind, just good times with limitless prospects ahead. The Fact that he seems to stop at the edge; a sort of jolt from the Divine says that he is in a very receptive state able to listen to the guidance without the clutter of the mind to get in the way. The mind has yet to develop limiting beliefs around the subject. The Dog in the card is following along the path of the Fool as well. They are both looking forward and up to the heavens. They are looking at the amazing possibilities that are manifesting. “Let us bask in the Energy of the divine before we make the next step in our journey.”
I always like to see the Fool in readings as I feel it adds a new energy to the mix. It allows for us to understand that beginnings are in order and where to go from the phase of life we are in right now. I would consider this card to be a great card of importance that allows for a reading to take an interesting turn. It adds spice to life.
The Fool as a Person can be very Airy Fairy, Others around him/her may think this person is a bit too much, Snobby because they have their head in the clouds and following their own tune! The Fool as a person can represent someone who seems to change their mind every other day. They Go with the Flow and don't always like to commit!

I've embodied 'The Fool' in many aspects in my life. One experience that I can recall is when my Aunt broke her ankle. This Aunt really did me wrong *at least I felt she did* and I had a lot of issues with her but She called me out of the blue one day. She was crying and needed help. She lives 5 hours away and her Husband was being a total idiot to her and not helping her and wouldn't take care of her and she broke her ankle! There were things she couldnt do like take her kids to school! So she calls me and asks if I would consider moving in and helping her out. I told her I'd have to think about it. Well I just felt so divinely guided to do so. So moved to do this for her, my heart, my soul went to her and I was gutted that her family wasn't making an effort to help her out. So I packed my life up for a bit and went to her and I was there for a year. A Year of my life taking care of her and her family and helping her through a battle with her husband who moved out and blah blah. But What I am saying here is that the Fool in this situation was when a proposition was being made and I didn't even take time to think about it; I acted because I knew that Spirit was speaking and I packed my bag with only what I needed and headed out. I am forever blessed for having this experience and gladly welcome the Fool!

When a person at work decides to take an idea that has been mentioned but not set in stone, take that idea and just go with it and not think but full force ahead act upon his inner guidance.. The Fool Appears...
When a first kiss happens, the one that initiates the kiss not knowing if it will be returned back or not... That energy is where The Fool makes himself known.
What situations do you feel the Fool Shows up in?

My impression of the fool is the start of a journey. The fool in Tarot of a Moon Garden is a clown. He appears to be jovial and completely unaware of any challenges or pitfalls that may lie ahead of him. I think he personifies the phrase, "ignorance is bliss."
I generally do not ever see him in personal readings, but perhaps I am quite in the middle of my journeys instead of at the head of them. I do however, find this in readings I do for others. In fact, I did a reading for my mother last night and the fool came up in the present position in her spirituality category. I correctly interpreted that she was delving into new mediums and beginning a new path. She is starting a new path in energy work as it turned out.
I enjoy seeing the fool about as much as I enjoy the death card and the tower. I like things that show I am onto something new. I feel it's refreshing. I guess it's hard to take any card in a negative light with Tarot of a Moon Garden deck though.

One Card Readings with The Fool
So its fun to put out questions and situations that you make up and answer them with the Tarot. For Example:
Lets say Josh has always loved to play the violin and has always wanted to pursue that in a career setting but he works doing Taxes... So lets say The Fool comes up to answer his dilemma. What do you think the fool is saying in this? Trust your instincts.

I would say the fool is suggesting that he is on a new path. If he just recalled that he would much rather play the violin than play taxes then I would think that it is reaffirming what his heart has already been telling him. The fool in this placement is saying that by acknowledging that he desires to play the violin for his career instead of do taxes that this is the first step in his journey. It is now up to Josh to decide to pursue the course wherever it shall take him.
That was fun.

I love that Regan! I agree.
To me the Fool card in this position would denote that Josh needs to take a risk and follow his hearts desire. If he is positive that this is his true desire he needs to take the leap. He will benefit so much more from following is soul than from going through the motions with taxes. He will always have the tax thing to fall back on if he ever chooses to go back but he will not. He is being guided to take the plunge and go for his true desire and once he does so many other possibilities and pathways will start to open for him!
Got a question for the Fool? Post it up and lets see what he says!

Looking at the Fool Reversed puts a different meaning on things. Reversed The Fool is engulfed in the past. He does not take a leap towards new beginnings he comes to a complete halt and is in one respect foolishly walking back into a situation he knows does not serve him. One could say that The Fool Reversed has lost touch with the divine guidance that sparks within and is now guided by the materialistic energies of the physical world and his environment around him.
I'm not really sure if I'd like this card in a reading. Actually it would depend on the situation at hand. When I feel this card it makes me think of stagnation. It is a foolish possibly ignorant situation, person, action. It almost acts as a Red Light or a big Stop Sign!
How do you see The Fool Reversed?

I don't generally read with reversed. However, your post prompted me to give it some thought. In addition to what you were saying, I might read it as someone who is lost, and does not know where they are going. Some who has lost there way and is in need of guidance. Perhaps someone that has ceased to trust their knowledgeable intuition. I might see it as a sign to find my way again.

Hello everyone I have decided to use the fool from the Medieval Cat Tarot deck Artwork by Lawrence Teng Text by Gina M. Pace and Lawrence Teng Who is The Fool?
We are all the fool at some point in our life, and he is never far away from us for the first 30 years of our lives. Always exploring, never looking fully where we are going, just leaping before we look. Or for some it may be being too cautious in their journey always looking behind them for the disapproving world to catch up. To me the fool represents us all, be it free spirit or airing on the side of caution. How does the Fool card Make Me Feel?
The fool makes me feel childish at times, looking back making sure he isn't going to get caught for what he is about to do. Optimistic is another word I would use, the sun is always shining on his back with thick comforting clouds high in the sky. He makes me feel adventurous , not sure where he is going. He also makes me feel a bit anxious as if he is trying to get away from something Trying to get away as quickly as he can from whatever is over his right shoulder. The first color that comes to my attention is the yellow on his collar and the yellow of the sun. The yellow represents intelligence, wisdom, and happiness as well as bringing clarity into a persons life.
The next color that stands out for me is the vibrant aqua blue,Aqua represents big ideas, and blue in general represents spiritual connections.
Next for me are the fluffy white clouds, white represents the presence of all colors. It denotes openness, and completion, innocence, and clarity.
I am not exactly sure of the color of the fools coat (so if anyone knows let me know). I see it as a mixture of red, brown, and orange, with none in dominance. Which I find good in a way a good combination of colors as they all seem to balance each other out. |Brown can represent wholesomeness, and naturalness. Red is the color of passion, joy, prosperity, and temper. Orange represents, vitality , endurance, and curiosity . What figures in this card stand out to me?
The jesters hat stands out to me straight away. To me it represents the triformus or the maiden, mother, crone. Which is what we all are on our journeys, or boy, father, and old wise man. The coat also stands out to me big and baggy, as if the fool has just thrown it on quickly to get on with his adventure, or to get away from something naughty he has done. What are the figures doing?
The fool appears to be looking over his shoulder, not really paying attention to what is going on in front of him, he is about to fall over the edge but we cannot tell if it is a shortfall or a long drop, and neither can he. Even if he looked now it would most likely be too late for him to stop himself from falling head over feet. How is the body language in the fool?
His body language is carefree, and and nonchalant , he looks awkward and clumsy, yet determined. What words come to mind when looking at this card?
Youth, fun, mischievous, determined, guided, intuitive, knowing, hurriedness, carefree. Also running, uncertainty, edgy, decisions, acceptance.Who do I think of when I see this card?
When I see this fool card, I think of a person that is about to begin a journey that will bring them around to their true selves. A person that is about to face the reality of who they really are. I think of opportunity's, and adventure, transitioning from one persona to the next. Excitement for something new that we cannot see. On the other side of the coin, I see an upcoming event that could bring about change that may cause fear. I sense someone running from themselves, and no matter how fast they walk they can't get away. I see someone hanging onto their past, making sure it is still following them where they may go. I keep getting the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. I am late, I am late, where is it I am going, where do I need to be. The whit rabbit always needs to be somewhere , doing something for himself or others. He never really stops to look where he is going or what he is running to or from. ‡The wise man does at once what the fool does finally. Niccolo Machiavelli
A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough. Bruce Lee
A fool sees not the same tree that a wise man sees. William Blake
The fool who persists in his folly will become wise. William Blake
It is the peculiar quality of a fool to perceive the faults of others and to forget his own. Marcus Tullius Cicero
The fool wonders, the wise man asks. Benjamin Disraeli ‡ all quotes taken from http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/fool.html
