I found out during a ritual that I find the small of Sage to be so bad that it makes me gag. I was standing there with my arms in the Protector position trying to call the Sage to me when the white sage overwhelmed me and I started gagging and making funny sound to try and get the words out. I finally finished and ran outside with watery eyes, trying not to throw up. The bad part was that my boyfriend had just gotten home and was standing there with the most confused look on his face, made me start laughing, until I realized that I had to go back inside and get ride of the incense.

When I first consecrated my tools I felt so silly. I haven't had a proper ritual in a while so I'll probably consecrate them again.
Swan, one time my daughter was in another room and I was using sage to cleanse some crystals. She yelled out "what stinks?!" Now I do that when the kids aren't home. During the Dark Moon I cleansed the house but I used sandlewood because there is no way I can stand that much sage!

I prefer the frankincense/myrrh blends above almost any other blends. So many times now when using up the sage bundles, I've been trying to have a private midnight ceremony and the smell of burning sage, lavendar or incense wakes up Hubby! The frankincense/myrrh blends just smells like perfume to me. A 'gone awry' story I have is this: From early on when forming my circle I would kind of twirl around, slowly, that eventually evolved to walking a large circle in my backyard and as I got more bold chanting at the same time. The movement combined with the chanting was working pretty well for me in achieving 'going to a sacred inner space.' Well I was reading about the whirling dervishes and how the spinning dizziness contributed to their meditative trance and I decided to 'spin' while forming my circle. Well, I got so dizzy that I fell on my butt! After that I felt light headed and not so good, kind of nauseous, clumsy and embarrassed.

Sage is best burnt in small quantities - rolled into balls about the size just a touch larger than a pea (sorry but good ole SD plains sage isn't as harsh as most other available sages) - the proper moisture base of the sage will keep a tiny piece that size burning nicely and not be too over powering - you can also mix sweet grass and flat cedar together with sage and it is actually a very pleasant smell - or if you prefer a sweeter smell, add lavender.
If you liked Miri dancing around her flames ~~~ I forgot (quite purposely ) to mention how when you have a new section of oxygen hose that likes to curl up all the time how it just seems to like to tangle around your feet and in mid ritual there you are stomping your feet and shaking your legs, first one then the other like a horse afeared to put its foot down to try and untangle yourself from something that won't let go and the dogs are looking at you like you've lost your mind,,,,well,,,,maybe they saw it roll on by

I use frankincense and myrrh when I meditate. It tends to linger for a while and just smells homey and warm to me.
Not ritual related, but yesterday I was using a mist that is supposed to help.lucid dreaming and I sprayed myself full on the face. Thankfully I had my glasses on and I'm not allergic to anything in th spray.

I was doing really great - in the middle of a spell one night - holding the sheet of paper I had my spell written out on in the one hand while focusing my attention on the candle I was lighting for the spell and didn't notice that the sheet of paper had started to burn from the flame of another candle, lol - boy, that sure was a rude awakening, lol. At least I didn't set fire to the house!

That's sounds like something I would do (have actually done with a pot holder while cooking ) ~ but when it comes to fire I am overly cautious because I almost burnt my nose off (literally) by getting a flame too close to my face and it caught my hose on fire - THAT is not a pretty sight to see flames coming out of an oxygen hose and flaming up your nose in the blink of a eye On the other hand it is probably the closest I have ever been to knowing what a fire breathing dragon feels like The doctor said it was only second degree burns that didn't make it into the back of my nasal canal and that I was very lucky I was quick enough to pull it off my face and stamp out the fire before I did burn me and the house down any worse than I had - I am extra cautious with candles and open flames now
I don't even get to enjoy open bonfires anymore unless they are done in certain containers ~ and fire has always been my strongest divination tool from early childhood,,,,

I just did the spell in the Three Witches thread. I was setting up for my ritual bath and this is the first time I took an actual ritual bath. I have put herbs in a muslin bag and rubbed it over my skin in the shower but I had actual time today to take a proper bath.
So I put hot water in a pitcher and filled a metal tea ball with the herbs to soak while I took a shower first. As I'm dumping the water into the bath, the tea ball falls into the tub cracking open and now there are herbs all over. My first thought was "now I have something better for Ella's thread". I finished the bath trying hard not to get herbs in my hair because I have to work tonight and I can't walk around with green bits stuck to me when I work in a sterile environment.
As I'm getting things underway I realize I have herbs stuck to places they shouldn't be stuck to! But I ignored it and carried on.
I also pretty much dumped vanilla extract all over my hand and altar cloth but that isn't nearly as amusing as the above story.
I'll deal with the tub later! Now it's time for bed!

I can picture that one
This has been a while ago, in the days that nobody knew what I was doing so id wait for Mr V to go to work, and my Mom in bed.
I was consecrating my tools, I had them all set up in front of me lit my incense, but forgot my water, im standing there picking up my tools and reading from my paper, (trying to recite) had to get my reading glasses, get to the part where I need my water (no salt either) so I ended up just putting them in the Moonlight and thinking when you learn how this is actually done you will do it again the right way. It was frustrating to say the least. And I had to chuckle at my self, thinking this Witch stuff is hard. One thing that bothers me ~ I cant see well without my reading glasses, and especially in dim light, I cant memorize either, so I find myself just saying whats on my mind, and im a little better now about most things just through practice.

This morning I check things over several times over before I started! I need to get something better to inscribe my candles with. I need to cast circles more often, I had to keep flipping through my papers. I need a bigger font too! "What does that say?" I have been dreaming more since spraying myself in the face and that's the only time I have used that spray
