Ive never used runes/staves but I would like to explore them. I am trying to decide which one to go with. I found this awesome site that makes them from wood. These are the two that I really like:
Elder runes in Red Oak OR Celtic Ogham Staves
Here is the website http://www.tarahill.com/runesets.html of the where I will purchasing. I know its personal preference but I am interested in your thoughts. So, what do you think?
Thanks for your feedback in advance. Athena

My Rune Stones are made of bloodstone, they are really beautiful, but I dont really work with them, it was hard for me to remember the meanings, so just wasn't my thing. I much prefer tarot, or working with pendulums.
It is a very personal choice, but I believe the ones made of gemstone work better, and you can pick from a wide variety of stones depending on the energy you want. ~ Elia

I'd go for the Ogham Staves - but then I follow a Celtic path.

I too go with Celtic Ogham Staves. I made my own out of Birch - they are very easy to make & I do feel a strong, peaceful affinity with them.
However, I also have a set of wooden Runes which I bought to get a 'feel' for them & now plan to make my own set using clay, sometime...
Those are lovely sets, Athena. Why not try both?

I use runes as I am not following a Celtic path...they are very easy to make as in collect 24 stones and use a sharpie but I prefer something self made over something bought especially if it is that easy to make...

Im still not sure! lol. I am drawn to the ogham staves because I am drawn to the Celtic path. However, I still want to learn runes too. Most likely I will get both. haha

Did you ever make your purchase, Athena?
Runes and Ogham are two very different things... they aren't equitable or interchangeable at all. Admittedly I don't know much about the Ogham but I'm a rune-caster and work intimately with the Elder Futhark. The three rune rows (Elder Futhark, Younger Futhark and Anglo Saxon Futhorc) all have their own identity, nuance of meaning and energy patterns. My experience with the Elder Futhark is that anyone can work with them at a superficial level, but to truly know them and build a deep working relationship with them you have to put in the effort and mutual respect. I don't know about Ogham, but the Runes are much more than just a divination system - they are intrinsically magickal and can be worked with for spells, charms, bindrunes and self-growth. Divination is just one of their many facets, and even that is multi-layered and complex.
My advice is to get to know the different divination systems... if you can buy both then do so, practice with them both and see what happens. You may find that one or the other just feels better in your hand; that you connect with one over the other. You wont know until you try! Some people work with more than one divination system... I work a little with the Tarot as well, but I find that Runes and Tarot are completely different systems. They feel different, they read different, they tap into Wyrd differently... I imagine that Ogham would be the same. Some people can work with multiple systems easily, but I have a definite preference based on my own experience and relationship with the Rune spirits.

Hiya Rae'ya,
I haven't purchased them yet. At this time I am more drawn to runes. I really love tarot and feel very drawn to the cards. I thought the runes would be a great addition/compliment to the cards. For now, I am going to wait until I feel the absolute need to have them. If in doubt, I try to wait to see what calls to me. I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
Blessings
