I personally have few decks but it seems that some of them stop working for me and that is when I stopped using them for a while. Specially when I try to do a reading over and over about a topic, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day for 3 consecutives days, just because I dont like the answer or expected to be the way I wanted it. Now I realized that messages and answers come to you as they are suppose, you only have to write them down and leave them for a wk or so and then go back to check on the status, you will be surprise!.
The answers are inside you, tarot only helps you develop your intutition and helps you realize things that are blocked by your anxious state or impatience.
Now I have a deck for a specific situation, one for advise only and when I feel sad or have a doubt about something, also is my deck for my daily card: 1-The Heart of Fairie Oracle,by Brian & Wendy Froud(creator of Faeries Oracle) * I am into faeries, since I love them and they guide me a lot.
For knowledge of hidden messages or healing, even to advise, which I use for me and for others.
1-Magical Messages from the Faeries Oracle Cards by Dorren Virtue Ph.D (my fav author)
And for divination and more specific readings I have one I lately bought which author have a different and interesting point of view that have really helped developed my intutition and surprisely I have come to realize what the tarot had really intended to show and even I had found details surprisily come true after fews days of my readings.
1-Golden tarot by ciro Marchetti.
I have the revelation,Rider and few others also but when I used I deck too many times for the same question ,personally it stops working for me as it is saying you better leave it! and that is when I have to stop using it and unfortunally since I have a deck for a specific use and I am into find and answer that deck is not working anymore for me as showing me to leave my worries so I ahve to move on to another one maybe to help me go thru while the reading develop and then is when I use the guidance one, or the healing one, whihc honestly it is a good way of forward until I need another reading and time have passed for me to check on the accuracy of my previous reading. Amazingly my decks are conected to me and in a way to help me settle down to the fact that when they speak I hear and accept and them move on to work on things I need to, for when the facts they told me develop I would be ready to work them out or exprience them.
Blessings!

I have trouble reading for myself. I find my intuition immediately turns off. Or should I say, I turn it off. I'm worried about reading what i want to see in the cards. But I'm working on it. Others are able to read for themselves. I think it's a matter of leaving yourself open to what the cards have to say. That can be hard. But if that fails, go with the traditional meanings and apply them to what is going on with you. I've found that doesn't fail me. I sometimes will read the book and see what words jump out at me.

I've found that doing a reading for a question over and over defeats the purpose. It's almost like saying you don't trust what the cards are telling you and if you do keep doing spreads on the same question you'll get gibberish........at least that's been my experience.
Even if I had hoped for a different 'answer' I don't redo the reading. What I WILL do is ask advice on how to deal with whatever the issue is and how I may help the situation.

I couldn't agree more, Briganta! Repetitive readings on the same subject are pointless. You eventually get to the point where you can't get anything at all from the cards, but in reality, it's because you refuse to see the message they are trying to give you. It's almost like an insult. And, if you truly bond with a deck AND understand how to read tarot, there is no reason for a deck to ever stop reading for you. Keep in mind that it's a combination of you and the deck.

Totally agreed with Morgane and Briganta, that was something I used to do when I was learning. Now as I said: Quote: I realized that messages and answers come to you as they are suppose, you only have to write them down and leave them for a wk or so and then go back to check on the status, you will be surprise Blessigns!

I quite agree Briganta, and I wish all of my clients understood this as well. So many times, the only reason I'm ever asked to read for the same question again is that the Querent wasn't happy with the first outcome. Sometimes it may be acceptable or desirable to read the same question twice, to provide clarity and as a cross reference.

Just say NO! And there isn't ever a need to read the same question twice, in my opinion...Just throw more cards in conjunction with the first one to put a little clarity on the subject.

I certainly agree. We need to learn to say NO!!! SOMETIMES only sometimes, I'll ask which card they don't like. Have them go through the deck and pick a card they like better. Put the card they don't like to the left, have the querent shuffle the deck again, the whole deck, or what is left, depends, lay out three cards, starting next to the card they don't like, left to right, and end with the card they like. The three cards in between are the steps they need to take to get from the card they don't like to the one they do. Often they don't like the steps either, but you've given them information.

When I first started reading the tarot I could only do one or two readings in a day and I would always have a pint of cola or similar after doing a reading. Has anyone else had cravings like this as a result? Now however I do tarot as part of my job and so can do as many as are needed for other people without any effect at all. For myself though I have to limit readings to about one a week.
Blessed be.

I think I'm the one that disconnects with my cards, more than the cards being wrong or off. Usually it's me that needs a break. Elia V
