Yes I guess it depends on what your looking for. Being more specific usually gives you a better reply. But there is a practice where you take crystals and cast them as you would cast runes or even Tarot. Then the color of the crystal shapes the meaning. Or depending on who you are you can take the energy of that crystal into account, its story, its properties etc and let that inspire you to your answers you seek.

ive had awesome results scrying using a heart shaped polished amethyst stone i have. its a few inches across, so just big enough to see some images etc....
