Not sure if there is a topic here somewhere about this but I apologise if there is already...
After reading a little on this thread I am wondering about an experience I have had last year during a bit of an emotional time I was laying asleep and in the southwest corner of my bedroom a shadow being appeared wearing a fedora hat... He not sure why I say he but felt masculine was blacker than black shadow, this was not a dream I have had (spontaneous) astral experiences before and was similar in feeling as I could see everything in my room exactly as it is in waking reality...as happens with astral sight for me so I know the difference...this shadow being was drawing me (my astral self) out of my physical body, I felt paralysed and fought with all my might to drag myself back into my physical but it took a great deal of energy doing this I woke up terrified and really drained was this what they call hag riding or sleep paralysis? or is this something else entirely? Saw a thread mentioned here of shadow animals reminded me of this, is this related in some way? would really love some input thank you..

My brother in law had almost the same experience but instead of pulling him out of his body the shadow being choked him. He couldn't yell out and he couldn't run because he was paralyzed. If you get any answers let me know.

MM Julie, Have done a little research into this and there are so many theories as to what the shadow people are about from alien abduction to demonic possession to normal physiological hallucinations during REM sleep. There is also a thread here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26768 that I found to be helpful. The one theory that sort of felt right for me personally that I read was that the shadow people seen on the astral plane may be the forms of other astral travelling people. It seems to be a fairly common experience which I find interesting, there is also a bit more information I found here http://www.dreamsnightmares.com/sleepparalysis.htmlhope that is of some help BB Corvus xx

I had an experience this morning. It might have been a dream but it felt too real.
I was laying in my bed at about 5am when I suddenly became aware of a flat screen tv hanging on my wall. I don't own one but I felt that it belonged there. It was showing a news report of some sort of catastrophe happening but I can't remember what it was. I then started feeling something vibrating against my arm.
It felt like my cell phone but it wasn't any where near me. In fact I remember sitting up and snapping out of what ever I was experiencing and checking my phone that was plugged in to charge on top of my head board on the opposite side of where I felt the vibrating. As soon as I put it back and my head hit the pillow I was back to watching the tv that wasn't there.
It was about this time that my bedroom door started to open. The only other person in the apartment is my roommate and I began wondering why he was barging into my room at 5am only it wasn't him. It was a man and he felt familiar but I didn't recognize him. Standing in my doorway I knew he was up to no good.
He started to move towards me and I tried to tell him to leave but I couldn't talk or move. I could just yell in my head. I was yelling at him over and over to get out when about halfway across my room he turned into a black shadowy being.
He reached for me and I was trying so hard to move, to escape, to wake up if I really was dreaming, but it was only at the last second before he touched me that I snapped out of it and found myself laying in my bed, my door closed and it was 5:30AM.
I just wanted to shout "GET OUT!" but all I could manage was a loud yell. It really freaked me out.
I'm 22 and I've witnessed Shadow being watching me from my doorway before and other ones that I woke up to them standing over me from as far back as 5 years old. This was the first time that any tried to actually do anything to me and I got a real sense that it wasn't good.
It might have just been some sort of night terror but it felt way too real. I just needed to share this experience with someone.
