Lately, I've been having some surprise interactions with birds and I'd like to explore if there is any hidden meaning to it.
Last weekend, I took my daughter and her friend to the pool. I brought my Kindle and some popcorn with me while they were playing. As I was sitting there a little sparrow showed up and started eating popcorn that I dropped. It looked like it really like the popcorn so I gave it more and more. I went back to reading and then I heard the girls giggling and I looked up. The bird was perched on my foot at the end of my shoe and staring at me for more popcorn. I threw some more down for it and went back to reading. A few minutes later it was back on my foot again. I've never had a wild bird be that bold. Definitely the birds at the beach will ransack your belongings but they'll never touch you...My daughter got a kick out of it and so did I. I enjoyed that the bird felt safe enough to perch on my foot!
Today, a bird came in the house through the dog door. It was again the same type of bird, but it was panicked, bashing itself against various windows until I opened the sliding door wide and drove it out. I just got the dog door a little over a month ago. Prior to that I was leaving the sliding glass door open for the dogs to go in and out frequently. I've been doing that for almost a year and never did a bird come in. Somehow that little bird came in through the dog door. What a strange thing to happen. But, I liked it too!

That is what I was going to say. I've always heard that a bird getting into the house was a bad Omen which usually means a death.

In this case, I hope not too, but I didn't get that vibe, like it was a bad thing at all. I actually enjoyed it. After a little meditation on it, freeing a bird was a good act and omen. Something in my life has been freed up now.

I think that's lovely that the little bird hopped onto your foot.
I don't think I'd worry too much, almost every summer we get a bird or two in. I've heard that superstition that it portends a death and maybe it does sometimes but I don't believe that every time a bird gets in the house a death will follow.

You know, I had totally forgotten about that superstition. My sister's Mother in Law is so superstitious about birds that she won't have a picture of a bird in the house nor will she go in a house that has a pet bird....

I don't think so becuase birds fly in all the time no death in the family. Also that is scary superstition. I have 3 birds and 3 cats and well lets put it this way my house is barely quit in the day. Besides that what happens when you get attacked by canadain geese? I remember one time my mom took me somewhere and I was like 7 and the geese started running towards us it was so funny becuase my mom hade high heels on running super fast. Ya sad thing was she ran half way and noticed she left me on the table and the geese where surrounding me well it's becuase we hade bread I think. Wow it was the most dramatic thing that ever happened to me at a park. We left the bread on the table thinking they would leave us alone but one still continued chasing my mom but now my mom was holding me and my mom was running for her life we got in the car and it was trying to get in. That was just a wierd moment I was luaghing the whole time though it wasn't like they hurt me or anything they just wanted the bread and wanted us to leave obv becuase they chased us out. Ya for my mom she fears geese everytime she see's them.

LadyHawke, your mom and I would agree on the intimidation level of geese. They scare me so bad! I had a similar experience at the lake. I was feeding a huge gaggle of geese some crackers. When I ran out, they weren't too happy and they chased me for a while, I screamed my head off the whole time! I've also had a really super ugly goose hiss at me, which was terrifying.
On the whole though, I think birds are wonderful! Any time something weird or unexpected happens involving a bird, I feel like it's a good omen. Except when the poor things run into my bedroom window 15 times in a row really early in the morning. Can't figure that one out...

You just made my day. Maybe we should stick you two in a big horde of geese while you two are holding bread.
