Well, Michael and I have bought Kindles. Anyone else out there have one? What books have you found for your Kindle? I've bought Penczak's The Witches Shield and 3 of M R Sellars books from Amazon. Looking for other metaphysical books.

I'm very interested in ebook readers and the future of being able to condense my library from too many shelves to a small handheld box.
However there is an extremely important point of clarification, given Amazon's history, that is worth mentioning. You have licensed copies of the books. You have not actually bought them.
That aside what about the Kindle physical design works for you? How close to reading an analog book is the experience?

MM,
I got a Kindle for Christmas and really like it. It's light and easy to handle as well as easy to read, much like paper, not like a computer screen. I like that I can put several books worth in my pursue now and take along or download new ones when I'm waiting somewhere with wifi access. It's also good that you can download a sample of some books (usually the table of contents and 1-2 chapters) before you buy.
I find it works best for books that you read from cover to cover. I'm not so happy with books that I leave through or go back and forth on between chapters. It's also not good for books with lots of illustrations since it lacks color. For me, it is complementary to paper books, not a full substitute right now.
Bright Blessings,
Sequoia Mist

I had never heard of this at all until Michael was discussing it earlier.
I checked into it briefly. I don't think this would be for me at all!

I love my Kindle. I bought it primarily for school, so I bought the DX. The reading experience is similar to a physical book. The screen looks like the page of a book. I do enjoy the sensory experience of reading, so will probably never give it up completely. But given my newly developed arthritis, holding the Kindle is easier, can turn the page with the press of a button. For texts, I can highlight sections, it moves it to a section called My Clippings, in order, so I can study these, instead of reviewing the whole text for the highlights. I can also move them to a PDF, save them to my computer & print them. Also, most public domain books are free, so all the classics are available. I can't rave enough.

I guess I'm just stubborn about technology and books! I have LOVED reading since I was old enough to turn the pages, and I don't like audio books, or anything other than an actual book in my hands.
I do usually spend alot of time on the pc - even more so when I'm working, and I think this has something to do with it, as well. I see a book as my relaxation time, and I don't view the computer that way, so I'm sure it's all psychological for me!
It sounds like something my daughter could use in her home health nursing, though. Are there reference books, medically speaking?

Personally I'm waiting for the iPad. It's like the Kindle x1000.

I got my Kindle a year ago for my birthday. I totally love it. I actually like it better than a book, because the pages (especially if dusty, old books) of books always bothered me. I never liked the feel, smell, etc of books. I would always wash my hands after reading a book because of how my hands felt.
Weird I know!!! I'm the same way with cardboard things. The texture just bothers me.
I dont have that issue with the Kindle. I mostly download books that I will read once or twice. Books that I'll refer to over and over, I am still buying in the regular book form.

Hi I got a Kindle for Christmas and I am still on the fence. I like that it is small and compact but the text is so small and it takes me longer to read on it then if I had the actually book in hand.
