Well I guess I will be the first victim lol

I thought the beginners tarot was alright.......as for me it had too much Kabbalah in it as i had NEVER heard of the Kabbalah at that stage lol and also i dont have a passion for the rider/waite deck so the symbolism and all was too much for me lol but i am not trying to be negative here not at all.....it is a good course once i got into it I did enjoy it :D I just found it a bit hard as like i said i dont like the rider/waite deck
But on the positive note it made me look into the kabbalah and also into the advanced tarot lessons and it has given me a passion to learn all i can about tarot :D

I think this is a great course. Although I don't get the Kabbalah, and don't care for the Waite/Smith (Rider/Waite) deck, I feel the information in this course is a good foundation to go on to understand Tarot. Do you need it to be an effective reader? Probably not. But it is a good scholarly course. In addition to this course, I'd like to see something, possibly offered here on the forum instead of in the courses on how to intuitively read tarot. It could be set up kind of like a mentor group with lessons that would require input and discussion from the students. Could be taught or lead by a couple of people here that are good readers. Lessons could include a look at what different colors mean to the student, what emotions do the colors of card evoke in the student? And go from there.

I think that the Beginner's Tarot course is also a great place for a beginner to learn the symbolisms...which will increase their desire to learn more and more...

I feel that the way the material is presented, gives a great background for learning to break down the cards...to see that every symbol or marking on the card is there for a reason...

I think that this course does leave room for intuitive reading of the cards...

I have enjoyed being a mentor for this course, and find it to be very rewarding...for me and the students who participate!

Blessings,

Chi

Other than being heavy on the Kabbalah it was really good.

Peace

I am enjoying it very much, esp. meditations and the enhancement of my esoteric knowledge, however, I do wish there were more cross cultural references...more multicultural pantheon exploration and like-symbols from other cultures.

I think the beginners tarot course is well thought out and gives a very balanced approach for newcomers to tarot. I also think the Rider/Waite deck is a pretty good choice to base your learning on because it is what you might consider a 'universal' or 'standard' tarot that is easily obtainable. I realise that those who have worked with tarot before may have favourite decks (my own preferred deck is Crowley/ Frieda Harris' Thoth deck) but for the course to have relevance to as many people as possible you need a deck that follows traditional interpretations closely.

I particularly like the supporting meditations and suggested project work that accompany each section of the course. It gives one the opportunity to explore not only the deeper meanings inherent in the cards, but also to develop and personalise ones own approach to the cards rather than merely learning the card symbology and interpretation by rote.

I also understand those who struggle with the Kabbalistic symbolism and attributions for the Tarot, the Kabbalah is, after all, a difficult metaphysical system in it's own right but working with the card attributions to the sephiroth and paths helps to deepen ones understanding of the energies, symbolism and spiritual qualities that both tarot and Kabbalah embody. A book I found particularly useful when I first encountered the tarot and kabbalistic symbolism was Dolores Ashcroft Nowickis' The Shining Paths. It is a series of pathworkings or 'active meditations' that embodies the symbols, mythology and attributions of both Kabbalah and tarot and these helped me immensely with understanding the interpenetration of both systems.

I have been using tarot for over thirty years as a system for personal development, meditation and as a codex to map all the things i've discovered about the nature of this most magickal universe. I am still learning new things from this course. I would heartily recommend it to anyone as a sound basis for their approach to tarot, whatever path they may follow.

Much kudos to Pino for producing such an excellent primer!

I like it very much so far; however, I'm a total newbie to it still. But the course is of the highest quality that has caracterized Mgicka School as a whole, it's of the same caliber as Wicca Revealed and the rest of the great courses. Also, it's of college material level.
And this is not a threat for this, I don't know who prepared the course and I'm not necessarily referring to the Tarot course, but, Torey should be writing books and lecturing in a good college. He speaks like an erudite. I really wish I had that ability and prowess for the use of the word.

MM All,

I have just completed the course and have to say I loved it. I was a complete novice before studying it at Magicka. I now use the tarot regularly and feel confident when completing a spread (although I only read for myself!).

I am taking the opportunity to also say the mentor groups are wonderful and gave me so much support and guidance. Thanks Pansdelight, you are a star!!!!!

I really like the Beginners Tarot course, and I am currently on Lesson 5. However, as I don't own the Rider/Waite deck, nor am in the position of being able to buy it (I am currently using the Crystal Tarots), I'm finding it a little difficult comparing the two for the symbolism parts of the lesson, however, with some perseverance I can manage to get it. Also, theres not a lot of emphasis on the divinatory meaning in the course either, as that is what I plan to further once I have finished the course.
I also recommend joining a mentor group if you haven't already done so. There are mock exams to help preapare you for the real thing, and your mentor is willing to give you lots of guidance, help and advice during the course.
I, admittedly, don't do as well on the Beginners Tarot course, as I do on Wicca Revealed, but if you are considering taking this course, then I highly reccommend that you do so!

As I am coming to a close in my Beginner Tarot class I want to say thank you. It has been a GREAT class to whet my appetite for tarot. I appreciate all the work that made this class and website possible for anyone to participate. My mentor has been great and I have learned loads. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone wanting to know more and to begin their journey into tarot. Again, many thanks. :hat:

I finished this a month or so ago.
Compared to what else is out there for free, it is an excellent course.
I read my cards in such a way now that I don't think I would have without this course. I have seen some really bad courses but this one is so full of information and the meditations make you feel more in tune as well.
I now have an interest in the Kaballah too and it plays a part.
I was very happy with the course.
I think many people will benifit from it.
