What kind of food do you all crave when you're sick or tired, or just plain sick and tired?
I always want a big casserole, something creamy with noodles and things like that!
What makes you feel better?

When I'm genuinely ill, its usually toast with a small bit of butter on it. Its quite interesting actually, cause I'm sensitive to wheat usually, but when I'm sick, it actually makes me feel better.
When I'm fed up, angry, sad, tired, happy, confused, soppy, ticked off........you get the picture - CHOCOLATE!!!!!

When I want to feel cheered up I go for the salty chips 'n' dip. But if I'm really sick and not feeling well I usually try some toast to see how it's going to sit on my stomach.

When I am ill ... I reach for the saltines.
Down in the dumps ... it's got to be homemade bread ... sometimes just the smell of it makes me feel better.
Nostalgic feeling ... that's when I go for the salads ... potato salad or macaroni salad.
Angry, frustrated, and/or fed up ... chocolate every time (even if I have to settle for hot cocoa in the middle of summer lol)

Now you've done it! I have to know what "Stodge" is, because if it's something you like it HAS to be good.
Do you have a recipe?
Curiously,
Emily

One of the things that binds this "Family" is food.
Mention food and people come out from under the floor boards.
We once had a two week long conversation about Cyber Cookies.
Evidently some of the nut cases here had the recipe, and we all had some.
Oh, I just realized what I said... We all had some. That includes me.
Never mind.
But I do expect to see some recipes really soon.

Emily 'stodge' is typical English fair. Basically, anything that is loaded with carbs - lots of potato stuff, or bread/wheat based desserts (Brits call it pudding). Christmas dinner with roast, lots of veg, gravy and plumb pudding is typical stodge. Or meat and 3 veg meals.
Sage (who grew up on stodge and now avoids it like the plague)

Unfortunately its out of a carton hun, I've never tried making it myself I think its a british brand...what with a name like Covent Garden - lol, so I'm not sure if they do it in other countries. Soz! I'll see if I can backwards engineer it, and if I do I'll let you know!

my idea of stodge is stuff like donuts, or gypsy (or french) toast, scones, banana and custard, (my recipe) apple crumble or (my recipe) caramel apple granny or my personal favourite, dry roasted peanuts! its great when your in that time of the month.
one thing i've been craving when i want stodge is dumplings in stew. its kinda from a memory of them when i was a kid. i think a relative made them (my mum only cooked one thing dry chicken that could kill if you threw it at someone, and my dad only cooked two things, sunday roast, comprising of chicken, and and chinese from the local takeaway).

Ooh Daisy! Reverse engineering ... now that is FUN ... I did that with a chili recipe for my mum, and for a recipe of white gravy that she said she adored ... it was spicy so I threw in some cayenne pepper and she loved it!!

LOL ... my Mum's biscuits were like that, bless her, she tried to make them soft ... a good cook but not much for baking.

Mmmm, Whiteraven, dumplings in stew. I haven't even thought of them for years. My Mom used to do that a lot and it was so good. I think I'm actually going to try to cook that tomorrow.
