I am lucky enough to live with both my partner and my brother, with whom I own a duplex. Off the small upstairs rear porch there is a shed room that was gloomy and full of a bunch of miscellaneous crud when we moved in. Last spring it occurred to me that the space was wasted and had the idea of converting it into an altar room. With the support of my partner and my brother I undertook the transformation of a dark and dusty space into a bright, beautiful space for my practice. It took a lot of work, I had a lot of help, and the efforts have paid off! Photos follow for your enjoyment...

A close up of the door. I found these beautiful graphics of the chakra symbols and pasted them to the door with some assistance from my incredibly talented partner. She showed me how to tea stain the paper to give the graphics some three dimensionality and provide a contrast to the door color.

The interior of the room from the porch. The walls were bare wood, darkened with age. LOTS of paint... I love the green floor and hope to paint the ceiling (a la Michaelangelo) with a sun/moon/seven pointed star motif. Pictures to come as the project progresses.

Eastern Quarter. Color is on its way for this corner. Years ago while landscaping, I came across these marble slab chips and have hung on to them forever. I was excited to put them to use as shelving for three of the four Quarters.. Before me, Raphael.

Southern Quarter. Many thanks to my partner, Tanya, for her contribution of the hanging candle holder. Before me, Michael.

Western Quarter. A glass jar holds shells, sea glass and beach stones. A scallop shell and angel wing shell on the marble shelf. Before me, Gabriel.

Northern Quarter. An ivy clipping will live in the room during the moderate seasons and stay indoors during the winter. A bloodstone pebble, buckeye seed and light green stone join the ivy on the marble shelf. Before me, Uriel.

I love it!!! How fortunate that the window is near the earth quarter so the plant can thrive. Now when you are out on your nature walks, I know you will be finding more and more items for your room.

Isn't it gratifying to claim a space in your home and recreate it?!? I have already begun to find feathers, limbs, leaves and the like with which I am decorating the space. Glad you both enjoyed the photos. I'm loving my new space.

Oh Hun nothing better than to have your own space for nothing else but your practice, it will change as you add things, mine is like a little monster that took on a life of its own. I have a lot of pictures in MagickaSpace, and you can see how it has grown. Just love it and ill have to tell my Daughter, I think her new house has a little area like that.
