Greetings. I have seen 2 different dogs on 2 different occasions. Both at the beginning of the break up of relationships. I really am quite a skeptic, but here's the thing. During the breakup of my marriage I was sitting out on the porch one night. It was dark outside. It was hard to see the street because there were no street lights. I saw this sleek black thing that looked like a dog cruising down the street. He or she was moving very fast. It's legs were moving so fast, I really couldn't see them because it was dark, but I could see the body. It was a dog that sort of looked like a Gray Hound. It's body was pretty healthy looking and I think it was black. It was odd and creepy because the body was perfectly streamline as it coasted up the street and out of sight. I remember this clearly because I'd not seen such a unique looking dog in anyone's back yard in my neighborhood.

Note that I do assume that someone's dog got out.

But anyway, I suffered the break up of a relationship about a month ago and this one was not too good of a relationship. But when this had begun I saw a stray dog, like a dog that had gotten out of someone's yard meandering up the sidewalk. This one was more common looking. It was small, light brown and had a white face. I did not have my glasses on so my vision was a little blurry, but I just became a little fixated on it's face as I was pulling out of my driveway. It looked like a darn little skull mask that it had on. It was just really the color of it's face, but that's the impression that it gave me. I remembered the dog that I had first seen and I will never forget either and recalled what was going on at the time.

Anyhow, I was wondering specifically if dogs mean anything more often than not. Has anyone had anything like this coincide with anything sad or know of anyone who has. That is my main question, really. Like I said, I am really a skeptic at heart also knowing that there is real energies as well as times when the imagination just gets carried away... or even coincidence???

I've never heard of dogs as a warning of difficult times, but I have heard of them being signs of change or comfort.... But then the Harry Potter 'grim' comes to mind... he he he

I could be completly off on this one because these dogs are domestic canines, but native americans actually believed coyotes, which are also canines, were messangers of lessons about the mistakes and accomplishments you have made in life. It is said that the omen is usually a good sign, but it requires careful study of your situation.

So maybe it is actually to mean that you should take time to reflect on that relationship? IDK...just a thought...

In Celtic lore there are dogs that can warn you about upcoming disaster/death. i have seen them several times and its always before a huge change aka a huge "death" in my life. not a physical death per say~but the changing of jobs, moving houses etc...
Some folks consider them dark or negative, but i have never been bothered, only forwarned and to me, well thats helpful not bad They can be white dogs with red ears, or black dogs or a combo of the 2 etc...

Yes. So far it has been for me. Maybe it's just my psyche. I do know that I got scared when I saw the black dog a few years ago. It was a gorgeous dog, but it looked like it meant business cruising down that dark street. When I saw the tan dog I just felt sad and a little scared because they seem to foretell breakups. I just knew that change was upon me. And it was.

The last dog I saw was definitely domestic. The black one that I saw was probably domestic, but I wouldn't be half surprised if it were wild. It was pretty tough looking.

Anyways, I hope that someday these dogs -if I ever see them again- can become signs of welcome change. Perhaps this is a good sign in a way. Hopefully, I can study the situation and turn it around, see it in a different light and make good of it.

I wouldn't say difficult times... I don't think the dog should be looked at as a "bad omen". Most likely a message to you... evidently seeing the dogs were significant enough to you to associate with what was going on with you personally. The fact that they were "stray" seems a bit symbolic of a "time to ramble" or move on. I think it is not so much a warning as it is a comforting message from something greater that is looking out for you. on the surface you may think of those times as difficult but there is an intelligence greater than your ego that is guiding you to something far better than you can imagine. and I suggest that the fact that you saw these dogs is only evidence of that guidance.

Yes, there's been change. The dog had me feeling uneasy because I remembered what was going on when I saw that first dog. It was like an old wound getting aggravated. I just knew what it meant. I don't want to get too carried away, but I knew it was the loss of a love, even though it was not a good situation in most ways.

I will still look for the good that is most (hopefully) sure to come out of it.

You also need to know what a dog menas to you in general. For me, my own dogs are a tremendous source of comfort and entertainment. Strays are worrying in a way because I wonder if someone is missing them or has abused them...Wild canines like coyotes, foxes and wolves are a source of concern. But those are just my feelings; how do you feel??? I'm leaning toward advising you that no one but you can interpret this.

oh well then it evidently you already know what this means to you. my suggestion is that because it was a symbol that presented itself to you, even though it was a painful situation, it is evidence that something larger than the situation is communicating with you and watching out for you. It's always comforting to me when I am given a "message" even when the message is troubling.

I've heard that dogs can have a male representation in dreams, but for myself I really just don't feel that in relation to canines. I am a kitty cat person, but I love and have a deep reverence for all animals including dogs. I am rather fond of wolfs, but then again I would not want to meet one in the forest late at night.

The animal I saw when my marriage broke up was ominous. He either looked wild or like some kind of really sleek, odd breed. He might have been stray, but I could tell he was extremely tough and the way he cruised down the street meant business. Kind of like (ex) hubby who I miss dearly but love knows no separation. That is true. When I saw him to pick up some things (after 3 years) it was as though we had never been apart. Darn I miss him.

But anyhow, before I get to sappy (lol), the other little dog I saw happened as I was loosing someone significant...or so I thought. I've seen him again, too. I think he belongs to someone.

So, the animals are purely coincidental. But again, are they? Physically, probably. On other levels, there probably are no coincidences so I feel that they are significant in warning of breakups which are always difficult.

There's a myth here in Scotland about the "Black Dogs" that may or may not have some relevance. Apparently they're larger than normal dogs and, depending on the witness, they move extremely quickly or extremely slowly. They follow the ley lines that stretch across Britain and are supposedly gaurding any gates to the Spirit World. If one blocks your path it's meant to be a very bad omen.

Koschei~ those are the ones i was talking about and generally they can mean "death" of sorts etc... i have found them to be helpful omens however, they tell me when its time to move one or warn me of danger to come.
i also think respect is important too, they are intelligent beings and their presence should be noted and respected. it doesnt hurt to say thanx either ive found, even if it is just in the form of a simple acknowledging head nod
