When you see a ghost, what exactly do you see?

A full-out visual as if they were standing there in the flesh? A shadowy image? A blob indicating that something is there? An image just as you close your eyes or an image that pops into your head all of a sudden?

Or do you actually hear or feel them instead of seeing them? How do you make out that it's a ghost rather than some other kind of spirit, or as a product of your mind in this case?

Well, our current 'ghost' has only shown himself once. Most of the time we hear him, he moves things in the apartment - opening and closing cabinets, things like that. Occasionally, he talks. We hear him in the other room at times talking right out loud, other times he whispers - usually when we're in bed.

He was alot more active before I saw him. WickedSky and I were going upstairs - we live in a basement apartment, and when we opened the door to the stairway, he was standing there. I saw him, plain as day, but WickedSky was behind me and did not see him. I stopped so fast that he ran into me. It was dark in the hallway, but I could see him well enough to describe him. He was an elderly gentleman, standing right in front of me with a drab brown suit and hat, white shirt, and thin black tie. The clothing he was wearing was old fashioned, and not in the best of shape. He vanished within seconds, but I'll never forget what he looked like. It wasn't like seeing a person standing there. It was not as strong as that, but his features were as plain as day, and if I ever saw a picture of him, I would know him.

It didn't scare me, I had known he was around for quite some time, and in all honesty, I was kind of happy to see how harmless he looked. And, from then on, anytime either of us hear him in the apartment, we nonchalantly comment that it's the 'man in the brown suit'. I think he only showed himself to me to be acknowledged.

We do see shadows moving around the apartment now and then, and Jack seems to notice things on occasion. There are 'cold spots' in the apartment that we walk through at times, and strange things happen. We'll be watching tv and hear the kitchen cabinets open and close, or he likes to mess with WickedSky when I'm away by setting off this cat we have sitting on a shelf - it's touch activated and it meows, and he'll set it off over and over again when I'm away.

I do know that whoever it is did not live in this house, they may have lived on this piece of land at some point in time. There was an elderly lady who lived upstairs, and her husband had passed away in another residence before her family moved her here, but I don't believe it is him - his clothes were too dated for that, and these people had money, where my spirit did not.

I've had spirits around me all my life, I've never had any problem with them.

When I was 13, I was sound asleep and heard someone say my name. I woke up, and my parent's best friends' son was standing in the corner of my bedroom. The moon was shining in on him. He was a little older than me, he was 16, and something didn't look right about him. He was so pale, and he was only in his underwear. I watched him fade away, looked at the clock, and got up to get a drink. 2 hours later, his parents called. He had died in a car crash minutes before I saw him - his neck was broken on impact and he died in the ER.

You might find it interesting to know that I met the guy who was driving when the wreck occured 5 years later and married him. (my first marriage) Not sure that has anything to do with anything, but I've wondered.

Those are the only two times they've actually materialized in front of me, but I'll never forget either time.

I'm not sure there is any real difference between a ghost and a spirit. I kind of view them as one and the same.

I can feel them, and on occasion, I can see them. I know they aren't my imagination...It's just not that good!

I've seen a ghost as a full-out visual as if they were standing there in the flesh, also as a shadowy image. I've also experienced sensing a large, dark blob of heavy energy that was NOT very nice, so I was not certain whether it was a ghost of a person who had passed or a negative entity of some kind.

Many times I've heard and felt them without actually seeing them. I used to have someone clomp up the stairs quite often but he/she hasn't been around for a long time now. I've felt someone standing so close to me that if I turned around a little we'd be nose to nose. He was a very powerful person from my daughter's past life.

For a number of years I used to have someone come around who had the most beautiful perfume which would fill the room. We had company one night and they asked where the lovely smell came from.

I've also been tapped on the shoulder and peripherally seen someone as I turned around.

A Ghost can be a full body apparition, a shadow, or unseen until you develop the picture. If its there one second and gone the next right in front of you then you have probably seen a ghost.
There are all sorts of paranormal things that exist.

Entities: Are ghosts that appears to be conscious and is often interactive. Ghosts are nonphysical entities.

Imprints: Like a psychic recording, or groove. It will happen over and over, even if your not there to see it, and it doesnt know your there, it cant interact with you.

Poltergeist: Noisy ghost, interactive with the environment, throwing things, turning lights on or off. It is thought they draw their energy from young adolescent females who have emotional issues, they draw this energy in and then expel it into the environment. To researchers they are not entities at all, but a young woman can subconsciously release penned up frustrations in a telekinetic burst of energy.

I was once told by a psychic that I would be seeing something unusual but had to figure out for myself what it was!?! A few months later, while I was working as a manager in a hotel, I saw a little boy in period dress peeking out of a wardrobe at me. It is the one and only time I have seen what I think was a solid spirit. I was told two weeks later that I had a spirit guide called Joshua and I had recently seen him. Whether he was the little boy or not I don't know!
I have seen unnaturally dark shadows occasionally but mostly I see brightly coloured lights dancing in front of me. I do not think Im psychic just lucky to have experienced these things.

i've seen ghosts appear in several different forms over the years. i've seen them ever since i was a little girl and continue to at least feel the presence of a spirit,if not actually see one on a daily basis.

i've seen what people would call "shadow people",
ghosts that look as real as a human being,
ones that appear humanish but are kinda misty or hard to focus on,
ones that are hard to see but have nothing below the waist (like feet,lol), ones that are different color energy swirls (but those arent always the spirits of just humans,i think they are elementals too),
ive seen ghosts that appear in my minds eye (not visible to others around me),
and some that look like shadow people but are much more pale with less defined shapes....

i think that pretty much covers what i usually see ghosts as, to me it really depends on the specific spirit as to what they look like

I see images that pop into my head and I hear words and most of all it starts with chills and or a burning in my chest. The burning is hard to describe ---it's kind of like the chills only the oposite and I know that it's a spiritual feeling like the chills are and it's usually combined with the chills. The images I see are often what the person used to look like.

i do notice chills and cold spots sometimes when they are around, ive also noted intense heat b4 (not sure if that was a spirit specific thing or what tho...)

I believe a "ghost" is a human spirit. I've seen them as shadows mostly, but I can feel there energy even when I can't see them. Just like I can feel the energy of any other type of spirit. The energy will feel different depending on the type of spirit.

Sometimes I see a concentration of energy, which sort-of-kind-of-in-a-way-not-really looks like a gray/white or black mist.

Sometimes I see a 'shadow figure' which is the outline of a person but is solid black and no distinct features.

And sometimes I see little orbs of light. Usually they aren't any bigger than a pencil eraser, and it's when I'm doing an EVP session or concentrating on them.

So far, I haven't seen a full bodied apparition or anything transparent.

is a place with a lot of ghost sightings. it is on the Des Moines River and was once a trading post; very old. we had bicycled down there and spent the night in the old Hotel. The were having a ghost sighting meeting or class. lots of light and things. i got bored watching and went for a walk. i soon found myself beside a cemetary and sure enough; saw a ghost. She was dressed in 1880's period; really decked out. sort of purplish black colors and a faded feeling to the apparition. i only saw her for an instant; she was standing by a gravestone.

spirits on the other hand are everywhere. i see them flitting across my computer screen even. I have named one Coleste and written a story about her and some nasty dragons at her request, she likes being famous.. She is still about but we don't talk as much as we used to.

Then there is the black smudge, i call it. it is a black spirit that has made its way into the house. a wicca friend says i need to purge it, but i don't feel threatened... yet. i figure it will go away on its own.

Willow trees seem to hold a bunch of ghostly beings. Willows are very dangerous trees especially in a storm. but the way they are put together seems to give a ghost a chance at a place, and not feel too put out. the odd presence around a willow is good because the way they fall apart. so the ghosts are doing us living folk a goodness there.

besides Coleste there are a bunch of faery folk that live in our yard and house. mostly in our yard; always have. i guess its because my mom and dad like to let things grow. i refuse to plant grass and we only mow around the sidewalks. i notice they especially like the ferns and creeping charlie.

my grandmother Bliss was an herbal genious, and fae were everywhere in her yard. when they tore down her house i came by and asked the fae to come with me to iowa. they refused of course. the builder never did build on the place. it is wildish still and very serene. sneaky fae.

I dont think that willow trees actually are full of spirits, i think thats a bit of a broad generalization. each individual tree can contain it's own spirit/energy; but willows arent full of human spirits always.
willow trees were used in the early 19th century to make "mourning pieces" for women to help commemorate passed loved ones; which is where the term "weeping willow" is thought to have evolved. i also dont think, and this is just my opinion, but willow trees are not "dangerous" in any way really,unless someone is swatting at you with one of their long branch pieces. i have spent rainy afternoons under their protective branches as a child.

In Feng Shui teaching any kind of tree that has a drooping posture is thought to carry a sadness in it's energy as well....

To me any tree including a willow tree has a spirit of its own. I don't think they are full of human spirits. You can feel a difference in energy. A human spirit has a very different energy than a tree spirit. Somebody also mentioned flashing lights. Those, atleast in my experience, are fairies. A large Golden energy is an angel. Both energies feel different.

I always see them in my minds eye; often I can feel them. I've seen numerous other spirits and believe me I know what the difference is

The spirits started off as shadows and blurs out of the corner of my eye but now I see beings/entities and can describe them pretty well if you're with me when I see them. Some of them are from other realms as what I see when I see them is unlike anywhere I can imagine on earth. It is difficult to describe but the realms are not in the third dimension.

Ghosts just come in my minds eye and I can see them pretty clearly and often when I am somewhere where I cannot see them in my minds eye I get this feeling as if something dense and heavy is descending upon my head and my shoulders and I get a headache and it feels as if I am being smothered subtly. It is like a concentration of "foggy" energy on my head and shoulders and it feels heavy. After they leave I am left with a headache for some hours in and around my third eye area.

For example where I work in the back room I used to see this man out of the corner of my eye-always out of the corner of my eye. He was rather tall and had thick blond hair that was medium in length. He was of average build and always appeared in white robes-but then I heard that the area in and around where I work (including the road, the church opposite and the neighbouring shops) used to be a Pagan cemetery hundreds of years ago and that they built the church upon it. He certainly looks as if he lived many hundreds of years ago.

Another example was where I used to volunteer last year; this lady passed away and her son donated loads of her items to the charity shop which were kept in the basement. Whenever I went down for a smoke in my minds eye I would see a lady in her mid 70's with silver hair in a bob cut and rosy cheeks. She wore a lilac dress with flowers on it and always looked at me with a benign smile; she always stood with one hand in the other.

Sometimes I will feel them; when I was living in a house share in Hackney, London I went down to the basement to just check out the books and other items they had down there. I was looking at some books when I distinctly felt something touch my back as if they were patting me. I looked around and there was no way possible that it could have been something I brushed against-this touch was very distinct!

The only other thing I felt and still feel to some extent now is my twin flame who is not in the physical but in spirit in this life time. I always used to feel when he touched me and still feel him sometimes!
