Pregnancy


Oils to avoid

    Aniseed, arnica, basil, camphor, clove, cypress, cinnamon, fennel, hyssop, juniper, marjoram, myrrh, sage, peppermint, rosemary, pennyroyal, savory, tarragon, thyme, nutmeg, origanum.

Oils to use with caution, not in first trimester

    clary sage, rose, jasmine, camomile

Aromatic baths and massages

Bergamot: uplifting

Camomile: good for back ache, muscle spasm, calming

Clary sage: induce labour, strengthen contractions

Geranium: balancing, soothes tenderness in breasts

Jasmine (4): uplifting, mood swings, Postnatal for depression

Lavender: headaches, backaches, calming, reduces blood pressure

Lemon: tonic for the nervous system

Mandarin: good for stretch marks

Neroli: good for stretch marks, calming

Orange: constipation, stomach upsets

Patchouli: dry skin, relaxing

Rose (4): dry skin, soothing, during the birth

Sandalwood: antiseptic, relaxing, UTI

Rosewood: skincare, reassuring, relaxing

Tea tree: UTI, healing

Ylang Ylang: reduces blood pressure, stress

For stretch marks

95% Apricot kernel and 5% mandarin oil.
Apply every evening, from as early as possible into the pregnancy.

Oils for during the birth
Room fragrances

Eucalyptus: cleans the air, aids breathing

Neroli: soothing, can act as a balm

Lavender: smells clean and light,

Massages, diluted and rubbed into lower back, or warm compress

Clary sage: euphoric effect

Rose: uterine
relaxant

Jasmine: aid to contractions

Nutmeg: primes the muscles for contractions

Lavender: relaxes

For breasts

Diluted fennel oil just before and after birth to reduce pain when the milk flows

Diluted geranium oil massages or cold compress for swollen breasts

2 teaspoons to a few drops of camomile for dryness (cleanse before breast feeding)

Thanks so much for posting this wonderful information...I am sure that may will benifit from all of your hard work...LOL

Although, I do not plan to be pregnant again....I value the info...have a daughter, daughter-in-laws and grand-daughters. :D

I am just so happy for you, hun!!!

Congratulations to all of you mothers to be!!!! I'm so happy for you :D

Can I just add one - I used lemon during the birth, and it was great - I had lemon on one side, and lavender on the other :D

Nowadays in most hospitals, they have aromatherepy as an option for during labour :D

Thanks guys.

I'm only 5 weeks at the moment and in the nausious stage. But still extremely excited.
