I really need to buy some of those books, I haven't had the money up until now to buy any. Witch Alone really interests me so I might buy that one first.

I don't remember seing Dorothy Morrison's name on this list. Anything by her is as important IMO as anything by Scott Cunningham. She has a new book titled Utterly Wicked. Maybe not for everyone, but it is on my list.

I just want to pop in and recommend another book that I have found really interesting and helpful. Dancing with Dragons By Conway. Excellently written and easy to understand. I have many more, but am yet to read them.
Will keep you posted.
Blessings

I have to applaud the lists of wonderful books everyone has been reading!! I am just going to make mention of a couple of 'left out' real gems..although not Non-fiction titles, they are, nonetheless important in the study & understanding of the craft. The books I am talking abbout are"The Sea Priestess",by Dion Fortune, which has actually had rituals in wicca based on this magickal book..a wonderful 'read' aside from being a part of the 'make-up' of the rituals which were written/added to the religion after this book was published ....it had a profound effect upon many "Non-Fiction" writers on the subject of the occult.
Also, another book which is definitely a must read is"Aradia,Gospel of the witchs" by Leland (Charles).
If you are feeling brave, give "The White Godess" by Robert Graves a try..its kind of a difficult book to get into, but its well worth it!

i've definitly wrote down a list from what everyone added. here's a few that i have.
A witch's notebook- lessons in witchcraft -silver ravenwolf
which talks about alittle bit of everything including spirituality, philosophy, herbs etc
Living Wicca-scott cunningham- very helpful book
The book of spells-nicola de pulford- just a small book of spells from all over the world
i have a few more but i dont know where they are.
i also have one for tarot
tarot basics-evelin burger and johnannes fiebig
good book for beginers
also be careful what book store you go into. when i was younger i went into the mall into several bookstores looking and i happened to go to a christian bookstore.( i didnt know it was) and asked for a book on witchcraft. i got the dirtiess look and pretty much was asked to leave. lol

Wonderful list of books you can choose from! Thanks for the list! I am thinking of getting a few of the books that I've seen listed. I do however have a book that has been very helpful on terms and objects, herbs, colors, stones and the properties and spell value of each. It is "Natural Magick: The Essential Witch's Grimoire" by Sally Dubats. I have tailored my garden to the herbs described in this simple book. It's like Hedge Witches for dummies. Definitely up my alley.
Mahalo!

amazon.com is definitely a hit, especially if you can find a copy secondhand on there. or another one i use a lot is http://www.betterworldbooks.com/, $3.97 worldwide for shipping, for any item, and they source books new or secondhand to keep them from landfill and support literacy programmes. a very worthwhile cause, great range!, and fantastic prices. can't reccomend enough.
at the moment they are having a 5 for $15 sale, with quite a few occult type titles in the sale.
on another subject, i have just started working through christopher penczak's, "the inner temple of witchcraft", and it is my new favourite book!! beautiful philosophies and very clear and easy to follow. a great guide to establishing your own mind-space and spirituality in day to day life, rather than worrying about ritual and spells. really wonderful workbook to work through.

Yep, if you don't mind waiting a month to get the books, it's much cheaper to buy from Amazon.com (the US version, not Amazon UK, as there's too much difference between the pound and the AU$).
Just be very careful of buying the used books... I've done the figures a few times and even though the used are cheaper, if you're buying several at a time then you pay in shipping because they come from separate places. So as an Aussie, don't fall into that trap when buying multiple books at a time lol
Seriously... as a bookaholic, I actually walk past the bookstores now, because I know that I can save myself sometimes up to half the price of the book if I'm willing to wait a month or so for the cheaper shipping. I also get my text books from Amazon, 'cos even with my discount at the publisher, I STILL get them cheaper at Amazon, including shipping costs. lol
