Meery meet everyone, I have just recently purchased a pendulum and a dowsing mat. Can anyone who uses this give me some idea what they do with them, and what they use them for.

I use mine for mostly yes and no type questions. Like 'is today a good day for a tarot reading?'. But I've read that you can find which chakra is out of balance with them too so you can go about cleansing and realigning it/them, as well as finding which color is too absent from your aura so you can go about getting that back in order too. I've also used it to find things question by question.

I agree with Asphodel, mostly 'yes or no' questions. Also they are good at sensing the amount of power/energy in any given place/object. Experiement with your pendulum and see what it wants to tell you. I have two pendulums, one can answer yes/no questions but mostly is good for picking up energy. I have one pendulum that refuses to tell me the 'future' and insists on telling me what I want. I suggest you see what your pendulums are best at picking up, then see how you can use it to your advantage.

Ive worked with pendulums a lot,

Hold it in your dominate hand, with your four finger and thumb

rest your elbow on your knee or table

Let it steady itself,

then ask 'show me yes', and wait for it to swing

let it come to a stop and ask 'show me no' and wait for it to swing

let it stop again and ask 'show me i don't know', wait for it to swing

then let it steady itself and ask 'show me i don't want to answer'

Usually you will ask it yes and no questions, for something you want to
know, and it will respond with its swing.

Mine swings back and fourth for yes and up and down for no, counter
clockwise for i don't want to answer, and clockwise for i don't know.

When you first get it keep it with you for a week or so before you try to use it, and let it absorb your energy, i keep mine in my pocket.

if you buy a new one it may swing different so you have to ask again.

there are alot of good books on using pendulums you should get one,
there are alot of cool tricks it can do.

My grandsons friends ask me questions ( in there minds not out loud )
and ill tell them the answer, it will work every time, they think its freaky.

Ill tell them to ask something they know the answer to, i wont even know what there asking, its a lot of fun, i use mine all the time

And now ive started making them. Ive got a large collection.

I have a beautiful Tiger's Eye pendulum that I love. However, I can't use my dominant hand, or use it to get an answer for myself. I find it moves the way I want it to. So, I use my non-dominant hand, and have people ask questions, yes, in their mind, not aloud. As far as energy, if you hold your pendulum over a candle you haven't charged (or tarot cards, or crystals, etc) it should stay still. Charge the item, and use the pendulum again, it should begin to move. You can tell if something is sufficiently charged this way. I've also used it for chakra and aura work. If you aren't getting any answer or if they aren't accurate, you might need to cleanse it first. If your pendulum is made of crystal, use care how you cleanse it, just as you would any other stone. salt, water, and sun can ruin some stones. After you cleanse it, carry it with you to absorb your energy. You can even use a metal nut tied to a string or twine as a pendulum. Have fun!!!

I have had great luck with pendulums in the past. Will be interesting to hear if you have the same experience. I would recommend keeping it close to you for a while. Seemed that it became more in tune with my energy the longer I kept it on me. I wore mine around my neck.

i have used my pendulum to realign someones chakra and actually communicate with spirits. You can use them for healing and all kinds of stuff. yes and no is the most popular though.

Oh wow, I wonder if this is safer than using a Ouija board then? I might have to try this, I always forget some of the most powerful tools are ones you can make yourself. Silly society has it in me that I need to buy everything for it to work *rolls eyes* lol.[/quote]

Pendulums are pretty safe, at least I've never had any trouble or heard of or read that they are unsafe.

Well you know it's just that Ouija boards have such a bad rap now and in a way I understand. But you'd think that any other way of speaking to a spirit would open you up to the same energies and so the same dangers. But aye, I haven't heard of pendulums being unsafe either~just ouija boards.

I made my own pendulum and board. Afterwords I consecrated and dedicated it to the god and goddess ,I do that to all my magickal tools. I used it to dose for my past lives with a yes or no answers and had good results, I also used it divine whether to cast a spell or not .Yes it is a lot safer than a spirit board.
