Do you grow your own herbs and spices - or do you buy them in pots from the store or ready to use in shakers or packets?

do you grow them inside or outside?

what do you grow?

Okay I would like to share mine first. I love to grow things! It's usually flower gardens, which I leave behind when I move. (It's my silly way of leaving a little piece of myself all over the world, LOL!) But this year where I have moved to, I'm not even sure yet if they're going to want me putting flowers all over tarnation. I may have to make myself happy with potted flowers, I guess we'll see. I have been wanting to grow more herbs and spices, and I've had a few things growing in my kitchen windows at times, like rosemary and sage. I'm wondering if any of you have used the little "herb growing kits" and if you did, how they worked out? I'm thinking of trying one of those this year!

I always am growing mint, tarragon, basil, cilantro and tomatos. Here in California, the tomatos will keep going almost all year. I cut them back and they regrow. All of my herbs are in pots, except the mint has spread outside of it's pot! I love to plant some mint wherever there is a garden spigot. The mint will natually get watered from the spigot and seed itself for eternity! Sometimes I will take a shortcut and buy a baby plant, but these days for economic reasons, I go for a seed always. I'm currently babying a group of about 9 tiny sweet lemon seedlings in my kitchen window; they each are about 1-2 inches tall now!!! It's hard to believe they will be trees!

MM.
I'm a herb junkie and grow as many as possible. They are mostly in pots outside and usually I buy seedlings. I'm just too scatterbrained to remember watering seeds regularly. This year I have Lavender, Rosemary, Thyme, Basil, Chives, Cilantro, Sage, Chocolate Mint, Lemon Balm, Anis Hyssop, Meadow Rue, Majoram, Parsley, Tarragon and Summer Savory.
Bright Blessings,
Sequoia Mist

I'm starting a fresh at the moment after moving house. I'm going to grow some herbs inside on my kitchen window - probably parsley, rosemary, basil, oregano and thyme. These are the ones that I use most in my cooking. I did start to grow parsley and oregano a few months back but they died. I haven't got round to trying again as i've been kept busy.

We're hopefully getting the garden sorted this month and i'm hoping to grow as many herbs as I can outside. So hopefully later this year i'll be saying I have a lovely little herb area in my garden. Fingers crossed!
