I love, love, love the 'wishlist' feature at Amazon!!! I can usually get Hubby to catch up with everything I want at my birthday or Yule.

I absolutely MUST post about the book that I'm almost finished reading. It really has helped me immensely because I live in central London and getting close to nature is not something that I can do easily, nor is it something that honestly comes naturally to me (even though I do have a garden).

It is City Magick by Christopher Penczak. His practical view of magick and shamanism within an urban environment has been most inspiring. I really enjoy his no nonsense style of writing and the book's very easy to understand meditations, excercises, spells, etc, are so helpful.

I also have so many favourite quotes from the book that have spoken to me quite intensely, bringing me greater understanding of what I want and what I am seeking from within myself.

Love and light

it's great to know that there is a book like that out there as i often wondered how people in big cities got around the nature part.... i'm quite lucky in living in the country :) i'm glad you found this book and found it so helpful and inspiring.
blessings on your Journey :)

I've seen someone reccommend this book before, so I'm here to reinforce it some more:

Solitary Witch: The Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation by Silver Ravenwolf

With around 600 pages, it's jam-packed with info about tools, rituals, spells, spirit guides, healing herbs etc
However, I would say that it's more geared up for teens/young adults more than anything (spells on treating acne, for an example), but if you can get past that, then I think that you might find it an interesting read :)

Merry Meet!

One of the books that I recommend if you love working with Wicca, Nature, and learning how to Craft yourself as a Witch from the Old Ways is the book by Phyllis Curott called Witch Crafting. Through her many exercises that one performs rather than just reading books and learning of the Craft -- gives one a chance in exploring the many facets Witchcraft has to offer to the Practitioner; you not only evolve as a Witch in practice, but if it is for you, it circles into your everyday 'Way of Life' and living what you believe. And in connections with Nature and all of that around you, one begins 'feeling' the Spirit and Soul in each and every 'animate' and 'inanimate' creature and object! They become 'Alive' and in one's presence the more one experiences with it and becomes whole with it. Curott's book called Book of Shadows is also a good read, giving a biography of her life as she came a part of a Coven as a Lawyer and her trials and errors during the time in which she struggled both spiritually and mundanely as a human being in and of herself.

I personally work with many books and experience the exercises in my life, but since there are so much information on the Craft, it sometimes can become overwhelming to the beginning practitioner/learner -- so I work out of Francesca De Grandis' book called Be a Goddess!, for I love her teachings of the Fae, Shamanism, and her many exercises which involve the 'removing of blockages' in our lives. One cannot improve their spiritual deepening if they do not know and/or understand that each and every challenge and consequence in our lives are not faced with love and inner power.

Blessings to ALL )O(

"Wicca: A guide for the solitary practioner by Scott Cunningham"

I'm thinking about ordering this book. On Amazon it says "Includes author's Book of Shadows". Does it really? I checked out Cunningham's Book of Shadows from the library. Can someone tell me if "A guide forthe solitary practitioner" really does include the same information as the author's Book of Shadows? Is it like two books in one or what?

MM Honey7o2,

Cunningham's book does include a BoS for the person just starting out. Who can say if the content is the same as the personal BoS - I would venture the printed version is taken from the personal one but probably does not include everything.

wow!books!!!

I'd strongly reccommend:
MIRCEA ELIADE - Treatise On The History Of Religion, The Sacred And The Profane, Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy

CARLOS CASTAÑEDA - The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, A Separate Reality: Further Conversations with Don Juan, Journey to Ixtlan: The Lessons of Don Juan

as fiction, i'd say BERNARD CORNWELL The Warlords Trilogy...

I was wondering if anyone had any recommended reading on translating dream books and books that have a complete list of all the different types of gods and goddesses?

Not sure on the dream books but 'The Witches' Goddess' and 'The Witches' God' both by Janet & Stewart Farrar are good and give hundreds of descriptions but also include some nice rituals for some of the more major deitites.

I have Lucy Cavendish's "White Magic" which is absolutely fantastic. She also has great books on Faery Magic and Mermaid magic. She is an Australian author.

For those Aussies, a great website that is Australian and has many of the main books listed is www.fishpond.com.au
