It is indeed very interesting, thanks for bringing it to the Forum. Strange isnt it that as far back as history goes, the 'Christians' (I'll use this term here)have always persecuted women....makes you wonder how the Bible would read if God's wife had remained prominent!

What surprised me a little was the article saying "known across the ancient Near East by various other nemes, such as Astarte and Istar....."

There were many other gods, before detailing about the Garden of Eden there are lines referencing a pantheon, the texts gathered together however were focused on Yahweh, it was his story that was completed and distributed first, many of the other gods either became irrelevant or were subsumed by further edits of the document.

I vaguely remember reading something about this some years ago. It said - aproximately- that orthodox Jews pray everyday for the union(sexually) of YHVH with his wife..I'll dig it and return with certain things....
Truth is this raises a lot of questions...

Words of Genesis read: 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.' & 'So God created man in his own image,in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.' The Old Testament is not the only religious works to have been heavily edited. The New Testament also obscures the role of the Magdalene. There also exists a host of 'apocryphal' works that never made it into either... The Old Testament is written in a language and with a style that today is hard to understand... The New Testament is recent and in the Jewish culture, the woman is less than a man, so the Mary of Magdala's "role" might be obscured.. the answer to this "God's wife" must be somewhere in the old Jewish culture... _________________ ..to sleep..to die....
