Thankyou, it was an early valentines present from my lovely bf... i hate the red stones on it though and am going to replace them with a moonstone and a tigers eye(or amber) as not sure if u can see on pics but where the red stones are one is a crescent moon and the other the sun.

Although I don't typically use an altar for my rituals, I like to keep one set up in my room just to keep the Craft present. My altar is actually an old wooden art kit/briefcase that some close friends gave me years ago.

It has a handy little compartment at the top that flips open and has a palette that slides down inside so I took a few pieces of the black paper I use in my Book and cut it to cover the palette, then adhered this beautiful moon goddess drawing I found on magickalgraphics.com to one side. I use a small bouquet of flowers to fill in the other side.

Finally, the divided sections of the base of the case hold my element representations: a large quartz rock I found on a hike years ago for Earth, seashells for Water, candles for Fire and a butterfly keepsake box for Air, plus a little plaque that was a gift from my mom with one of my favorite sayings on it.

Thanks! :) Yeah, it's very handy, plus, on the occasion I do want to use it for ritual, I can just pick the whole thing up and move it, instead of having to reconstruct all the individual pieces somewhere else. One of my favorite parts about it is that everything except the seashells (those came from a craft store) and the rock, which of course I found, was a gift from someone I love so it makes it all the more special.

I love the box ~ I have all my ritual items in a box but it isn't wood. Yours is very lovely and I like the way you have it on display ~ I seem to be accumulating alters as so far I have two and of course the box can be portable (would that technically be 3 alters then?)

I do keep the items I actually use for ritual in a series of those sort of wallpapered decorative boxes you can find at craft stores so they're safe and tucked away but I love being able to have something out on display as well!

i transformed a porch shed into an altar room/worship space. I've posted additional photos of the whole project.

We are weathering hurricane Irene here today, and I've discovered that my space is not water proof! Time to do some roofing repairs when the weather clears. :scratch chin:

Where, oh where are they? I wanna see!!! I love looking at pictures :D It's wonderful how so many different ideas can inspire a person.

Best of luck weathering this storm. I do hope you and yours stay safe and the little leaks you can just look at it as mother nature letting you know what she/you needs!

Thank you for all these pics! I so prefer looking pictures than reading. It lets me figure better what it should looks like.

You all have so awesome altars but I must admit that I totally adore Smeezle's one :miss pink:

I've noticed that many of you have the altar next to the wall. Do you move it when you need to cast a circle or you just leave it there?

Do you all have the Altar to north? (except the one that live in the southern emisfere)

Hi guys, I got this idea from the "post pictures of your altars" post. I'm trying to make a wand but I could use some ideas.

I have an oak branch that has lots of worm-trails in it. I think it looks really cool this way, but I hope there aren't any eggs or residual bugs in it. It's got a few knots too - it's not exactly a smooth branch. I'm not sure how to carve it though.

I've also been reading the book "Wandlore" by Alferian Gwydion MacLir. This is a pretty awesome book about wands - EVERYTHING you need to know about wands is here, from choosing a wand, to communicating with trees, to physically carving a wand. The book has a little too much "Hogwarts" style for my taste, as he quotes Harry Potter several times, but it's jam-packed with information. (Not that I dislike Harry Potter, but I prefer to keep him separate from my "real" magick.)

I'm just looking for some inspiration from my fellow Magicka students :D

So, without any further ado, let's see some of your wands! (For those of you who use staffs instead, you can post those too.)

Here is mine. I kinda like it as is right now. Maybe in time ill carve it and add some stones, but I'm a beginner so "as given" is how I feel i need to keep it. Its Oak.

Nice :D I like how you're using it even though it's not "perfect" yet.

Very nice! I am currently letting mine dry and age as suggested by Elia. But I too think it's wonderful, I posted a pic of it on my blog, before I saw this spot! I think I may eventually oil it and decorate it some but right now I am content to have it like it is!

Great idea for a topic. Your wand is beautiful, thank you for sharing.

I have yet to find a piece of wood for mine. I think I know the very tree though. There is a very old tree in the woods opposite my house where we used to play as children. It has played an important role throughout my life. Childhood climbing frame, shelter, a place to hide when I needed it or a place to think. More recently a place to take my own children and to share with my dearest friend. I will hopefully find a fallen branch from it that I might be able to use. I may go and look next week if I can. :)
