Hello everyone, I am Sunje Alrun, or just Sunje and I am 26 years old, living in Leipzig, Germany. I’ve been a member of Magicka for a while but just started this month to work on my two courses Wicca Revealed and Tarot for Beginner’s. I am also a lifetime member but I think two courses are enough for now. For a few days now I’ve been reading a bit through the forums and I am surprised how welcoming and nice everyone seems to be. I am a bit shy sometimes and have a hard time just posting something, but your friendliness convinced me to introduce myself. I’ve been studying Wicca for about 10 years now. I started with 2 friends of mine in high school and for some time we studied and practiced together. After high school life was a little crazier and it was back to more studying than actually practicing. I just love to read, and am always looking for a good book on the Craft or anything metaphysical, but I also love reading novels, especially fantasy, romance and classics. So I am always grateful for a book recommendation. I myself started studying Wicca with a book by Gerina Dunwich (I don’t know the English title though). I remember it talking about Wiccans practicing skyclad, making it sound like this is a must, and I was a bit scared (I was about 15 then ). But I kept reading, and thinking back on it, it really makes me smile now. Soon I read Scott Cunninghams Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner and some books from Silver RavenWolf. I know there are a lot of people not liking her, but at that time I devoured her books and still love to go back to them. Since then my library grew a lot and I still haven’t read all of the books I bought. I have a serious problem going into book stores and not buying something . Of course I also started looking online for some resources, and when I started out there was a lot of not so valuable information. Lately though I found a few sites, especially online schools; apart from Magicka School I attend two others. Last month I moved into a new apartment together with my familiar Jasper, who is a ragdoll cat and my boyfriend and his rabbit Dante. We are still renovating the apartment and the room which will be my sacred space, or my little witchy room as I like to call it, will be the last to get done, but I can’t wait to design it the way I want it. I will probably post some pictures if you would like to see the progress. Well I won’t go on talking for too long. I am really looking forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully making some friends, who I can talk to not only from Germany but all over the world. It is always interesting to see the different practices from everyone. Brightest Blessings )o(, Sunje

I also can not walk into a bookstore without buying something! But my bookstore keeps shrinking it's New Age section so I've been buying a lot of digital books. It's less clutter as well and keeps my bag lighter. Welcome!

Well I am even more weird when it comes to digital books I love having my books digital AND hard copy, but not many publishers here in Germany offer the possibility to get an online code to download a digital copy when you buy the book hardcopy. I wish every publisher would do that. Also the new age section is shrinking in most book stores here too, usually just a bit of Doreen Virtue (who I like, but she is not the only author ever written something in this section), so I actually just LOVE my amazon account Thanks for the warm welcome!

I look forward to seeing you around the boards and getting to know you better. I would love to learn of Germany as my husband's family immigrated from there over 100 years ago and there is even a town with our last name there! Unfortunately, most of the native tongue has disappeared with his parents generation although not all the customs! As to books --- hard copy all the way, otherwise I wouldn't get to use my pretty highlighters ~lol~ not to mention I'm not only old school but just plain old OMG ~ I wouldn't know what to do without my Amazon account They are even beating Walmart prices and I can wait the couple of extra days for the savings! Blessings, Silver Firelite

Thanks Silver Firelite for the warm welcome . Where did your husband's family immigrate from? Well if you ever need any help with German, I am sure I can help. Although I don't like the German language very much. Well, I love hardcopies just because I love looking at my big library and I love the smell of books (they do smell different in Germany and in the USA, which I didn't really notice, but my boyfriend doesn't like the smell of American paperbacks). About the highlighting, there are actually ebook readers where you can highlight and take notes, but of course the highlighting is not in pretty colors then, so I understand the value of a hardcopy as well. I love to travel though and I have been to the USA for a high school year. It would have been great to have an ebook reader back then, because I had so many books afterwards, which didn't fit into my bags anymore. Therefore I took them with me on the plane but my clothes had to get send via mail Same here with my amazon account What's the last book you bought? (I said I always look for a good recommendation )

Stuart Woods, Janet Evanovich, Marjorie Liu, David Baldacci, Tom Clancy, Steven King, Dean Koontz, Cate Tiernan, George RR Martin, Sue Grafton, Michael Connelly, Lynn Kurland,,,, --- All the books to catch up with each series or authors new release,,,,AND that doesn't include what I've put in my magickal library lately,,,,a new gardening book, 2 new gem refrences, Judika Illes new Sages & Spirits encyclopedia and am in the process of being only 2-3 books short of having the whole Ann Moura collection ~~~~ Somewhere in there I'm on here and then there is my WR & tarot lessons, I think,,,,
And can we put of "crafting" for a different thread

Wow sounds like a pretty big library to me... this is the second time around I hear someone talk about Ann Moura, I really have to look into her books, because they seem something right up my sleeve I am reading Cate Tiernan's Sweep right now, that is actually the last thing I bought from amazon. I think I got the whole series last saturday and I am reading the fourth book right now, I really enjoy them. The first 3 I read in 1 1/2 days. During the week though I also have some studying to do. Semester ends soon and I still have to write an essay... I forgot to mention, I am a student at university here after already attending a two-year college and working for 3 years, I decided it is not my time yet to get stuck with a job I don't like. So now I am studying Media and Communication Science (major) and American Studies (minor). And I just started on those two courses as well, love the research projects. They help to distract myself from actually studying for my exams Oh and I love when people do crafty stuff... I really want to get into this too, although I don't think I am talented that way. But I plan on making some of my tools myself

Thanks for the welcome. I am excited to see how my room will turn out as well. I already bought paint for the walls. It's going to be a dark purple. Everybody thinks I am crazy painting it in such a dark color but I want it to be mysterious and purple is my favorite color.

Oh yes, I believe purple is a great choice for you, and a great choice for a Witchy Room. You'll walk in and get them spiritual senses buzzing right away.

Thanks Sarah, I will look into that. Haven't read through the whole thread yet, but a book club is always something that interests me. Hello Danie and thanks for the welcome . So what are your top favorites in books?
