I have this really neat Mahjong game on my computer and every level I complete it gives me a few words of advice to think on. I thought it would be nice to start a thread that you can add a line to if you think its good food for thought,,,,so here's a few to start:
The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
A great fortune depends on luck, a small one on diligence.
If you don't want anyone to know, don't do it.
Solve one problem and you keep a hundred others way.
The one who plants the tree is not the one who enjoys it.
Do not fear going forward slowly, fear only standing still.
And a quote that DoctorSpock had posted in his blog today ~ (hope you don't mind I added it!) ~
You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger. -Buddha

I got a fortune cookie once that said, "Buy the red car." Does that count?

Aiden Rayne wrote: With all things and in all things, we are relatives. - Sioux Just FYI, it's actually "Mitakuye Oyasin" which translates to 'All Are Related' ~ Sioux was actually a wasichu (white man) name given to the Plains Indians as they refer to themselves as the "Dakota Oyate" by tribe, 'oyate' meaning "the people", i.e. Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, Standing Rock Oyate, Pine Ridge Oyate, Cheyenne River Oyate, Rosebud Oyate, Flandreau Oyate, etc (Jamie is Seneca and fortunately/unforunately-depending on the day- we have to live/work among the "SWST Oyate" and they are fussy about their language )

Arrrgggg!!! Well, unfortunately that's what you get for trying to make sure a quote was credited to the right person! I bow to my more knowledgeable sister as I am still learning about my Native American Heritage Forgot to tell you that one, I discussed a dream I had with my Mother...I'll have to PM you and tell you about the discussion....suffice it to say....I am aggravated with an Aunt who is into genealogy!!!

Don't feel bad because 18 years ago, before we moved here, I didn't know any different either! They don't teach you all this stuff in books and in fact there is only one dictionary written that actually translates the Dakota language and it was written by the local monks at the monastery just north of us and getting a copy of it isn't the easiest thing to do either - because of the SWST Indian College there are a few volumes you can get your hands on and knwoing an administrator helps too
Now that I've jabbered away again, here are a few more I ran across last night:
Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in a different time.
An ant may destroy a whole dam.
A book holds a house of gold.
Better the cottage where one is merry than the palace where one weeps.
An inch of time is an inch of gold but you cannot buy an inch of time with an inch of gold.
A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark.
It takes a year to make a friend, but you can lose one in an hour.
To understand your parents love you must raise children yourself.

He honors me best who practices my teaching best.
All know the Way, but few actually walk it.
Do not speak - unless it improves on silence.
You can explore the universe looking for somebody who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and you will not find that person anywhere.

The wise adapt themselves to circumstances, as water molds itself to the pitcher.
To know the road ahead, ask those coming back.
Quarrels end, but words once spoken never die.
The fire you kindle for your enemy often burns yourself more than him.
Experience is the mother of wisdom.
Govern a family as you would cook a small fish, very gently.
Genius can be recognized by its childish simplicity.
It is not the knowing that is difficult, but the doing.
Count not what is lost, but what is left.
A frog in a well does not know the great sea.
If your not sure where you are going, you'll probably end up somewhere else.

In nature, nothing is ever right. Therefore, if everything is going right ... something is wrong. (addition to Murphy's laws)
