Merry Meet,
As I'm reading my next lesson in Wicca Revealed, I came across the section about High and Low Magick. Now, I haven't given this much thought myself until now. I knew the difference, but it didn't seem important. I have this thing with angels. I'm just not sure what I think about them. And the lesson talks about High Magick's goal being absorbtion into the Divine and one of the most advanced things is gaining assistance from your Holy Guardian Angel to get there. Because of that, I haven't done much to get into it (that, and I've been a slacker and the Kabbalah and such leaves slackers like me in the dust). I guess I'm wondering what others' experiences with High Magick have been.

Greetings, The way I see it is - High Magick or ceremonial Magick is more formal with lots of rituals - the Masons practice High Magick. Used for the high days and the holidays. Low Magick is sympathetic magick like candle magick, knot magick and the like. Yes? No? Discuss. Tree worship, I believe, is Low Magick.

I kinda see High magick as mathematics. You have to learn the formulae in order to attain a religious/magick experience. Not quite my style, as I ain't a "path follower", and it really doesn't apply to my kinda magick. As for Kabala, I learned it only because tarot, as the cards were designed to work on that.

Hmmm well I have a slightly different perspective. From my point of view, High Magick and Low Magick are umbrella terms for magick that pertains to working intensively with specific celestial energies and specific earth-centric energies respectively. Ceremonial magic, to me, is a specific kind of High Magick that tends to work with formulae and rituals detailed within renaissance (etc.) grimoires and is usually heavily Kabbalistic. So "working with angels", to me, is not a prerequisite to performing High Magick unless you are practicing within a system that utilises angelic magick (e.g. Enochian).
