Well it's actually two books lol. The Greater Key of Solomon and The Lesser Key of Solomon. Both of which were said to have been written by King solomon and passed down to his son. These books were researched my people such as Aleister Crowley. If you manage to find them take heed in their contents for they contain many rituals that can potentially lead to very bad outcomes.

Those "books" are very good books. And good ol' Aleister is a fine gentleman. "the Greater Key of Solomon" is not King Solomon's work, but an Italian Renaissance grimoire. The Lesser Key of Solomon, known also as Lemegeton, is a work from the 17th century. It is probably based on the first one, and it is a grimoire which contains instructions to summon spirits/demons. Thank you for the warning, we'll stay away from such heresy..

These books are used, along with others, by Ceremonial magicians with often very good outcomes. I agree that the rituals should not be dabbled with, but I don't think that these books merit having people warned off them. I agree with T.Q. - these books were not written by Solomon nor anyone close to him. I do believe that Solomon had dealings with the spirits, but certainly a great deal of it is myth.

If it scares you then your probibly not ready for it and should leave it alone for a while. But I wouldn't try to put other people off reading anything. There is much to be learned from books of "Black Magick", demonology, and otherwise. It all comes down to what you do with what you have learned. And in all actuality the farther back you go the more "grim" ritual magic and some other practices become. Any student of any magical dicipline will eventionally have to accept this, and if your Wiccan, the key of solomon is kind of fundamental. Nothing is really good or really evil it just is. The same object can be used in a negative way or a positive way, to hurt or to heal, etc. The same as a person can behave negativly or positivly. The choice is yours as well as the consiquences of your actions. I belive that is what Crowley ment by "Do what thou will." Do what your gonna do, just don't complain about what happens as a result of it. I'm sure you had nothing but good intentions but don't put people of reading anything. Pearls of wisdom can be found in everything.

I have the lesser key of Solomon, I haven't tried any of the rituals, but find it a fascinating read, if nothing else it is informational. ~ Elia

Well, now I am interested in finding both of these books, not so much for the rituals within but because it does sound to be an interesting read, and I agree, we should never turn someone away from reading a book, only remind them to take rituals and spells and face value and remember that the results of these are shaped by the person performing them!
